"I want to make
it clear to all my american and afro-american DA fellows and friends that this journal is in no sense an attack toany of you, but to your government, so please bear with me.... Turns out Mexican governement has recently issued a series of post stamps featuring the image of Memin Pinguin, a cartoon character who is.... well, black(and I mean black in a non-offensive way). This character is part of mexican comic history, being 50 years old, well respected and well loved here in Mexico.... well, one of these stamps made it into the White House, and Mr.Bush or some representative of the US is demandig that Mexico destroys these stamps on "ethnic sensitivity and discrimination issues"....... What's that???? Memin as a charcter is in no way a disrespectful steeotype of afro american people, and he was never made with the intention to mock or to offend anyone.... quite the contrary, Memin was crated as a way to express the hardness and the joyful innocence which makes up the life of work-class children here in Mexico; I mean, come on, nobody here complains about Speedy Gonzales or Pancho Pistolas(Donald Duck's mexican cook firend form the Three caballeros), although, given this kind of scandal, we should; that's a disrespectufl stereotype.... well, Bush, his government, or ethnic mentanlity in the US, for that matter, seem to take anything as an attack, without being it.... what are we coming to....

....and as a final thought, does USA hold the trademark to afroamerican people? Don't we have afroamericans here in Mexico? Or does all black(again,no offese) people come from the US? what about Cuba? Africa?? Are all color people property of the united states? In no place is Memin referred to as an afro-AMERICAN... so why all the hassle....? To me, it is just an excuse to make american power to be felt.... again...."

Palavras para que??

Comentários:

Atacar o Bush é má ideia, não quero este tasco fechado. (And who the hell is Sancho Pistolas?)

Mas eu estou a zelar pela (má) saude do individuo em questão...
